    As someone who has had to live with Midwestern winters (although I doubt NE Ohio is as bad as Wic#3nsinRo0;)&s44; I can assure you that you don't absolutely *have* to wear hats – last winter, I doubled up one of my wool shawls and found it quite as warm to wear over my head as anything I've ever tried. My ears were quite toasty! (You will want something for your head/ears, regardless of what you choose.)
