On the way back from a trip to California in my Tripacer a few years back I stopped at a cool little airport called Sky King Airport, just outside of Terre Haute Indiana. The identifier is 3I3 and I have wanted to return to visit ever since.

Turns out they are having a small fly in on Saturday, July 16.  It's called the, "Aeronca Fly In."  They have two runways but the longest one is only 3557 feet long, barley enough for a 172 from what I've seen so if you are rusty you should start practicing your short field procedures.  If you don't recognize this as a joke start practicing now.

I have already talked to them and they said we can camp there so I plan on taking the six with my camping outfit.   I'm gonna go on Saturday, secure some defensible high ground and set up a perimeter.  Probably cook some burgers or chicken, drink some Captain, and smoke a fat boy.  I'll spend the night and come home the next morning.  No rain date for me, if it happens, it happens.

At this point I may have a seat or two if you weigh less than me.  If you plan on coming and have a seat for some other knucklehead call Joe Deaton and let him know if you wanna come so I can warn them before we show up.

    I have spoken.

P.S.  I am going to try to get Roy D. Mercer to come speak to the group on the importance of airport security and the FAA help line.  Keep your fingers crossed...
