My project is a rework of a '94 Flightstar Spyder. It was produced as an ultralight-type aircraft but at 270lb +/- was too fat for Part 103 regs.   My goal is to to reduce the weight to the legal U/L weight of 254lbs.  This involves some re-engineering, removing dead weight, and discarding some of the non-essentials.  Things on the scrap pile include brakes, fairing, windshield, and engine cooling fan/shrouds etc.   Existing power plant is an air-cooled Rotax 503, but that may have to be swapped for less power if the weight is still too high.  Some folks have told me it can't be done, but that just makes me fired up to want to prove 'em wrong!  This is what makes the E in EAA !
