I am making a motion to investgate the purchase of a tig welder. It has come to my attention that the EAA 582 would greatly benefit by owning a tig welder. Based on the types of projects that we do there, a tig welder would be a great asset to any of the projects that are being put out.  This is one of the possible welders that would be a good affordable investment. https://www.eastwood.com/tig200acdc.html

I would be willing to do one on one instruction with anyone who is interested in learning how to tig weld.

I read the reviews on this machine and they're mostly good. Some of the bad reviews are obviously bad technique or prep. The torch uses readily available consumables and parts. Looks great for the price.

I agree the club needs a tig welder. I favor Lincoln welders do to the local dealer and readily available parts. Two places sell part with in 3 miles of the airport. I agree we need one.

The Eastwood welder is half the price of a Lincoln or Miller. Parts are readily available at Welders Service.

All of this said, how much money do we have in the bank? Before we buy anything we should make sure we have enough rainy day money in the bank.

It's about time we get one of these.  Miller or Lincoln brand would be nice.. but I think it would be more apt to grow legs.

I agree.  I think we need one.

The chapter has money in the bank, but, given its obligations I don't know if it is the right time to buy something like this.

HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure we can raise the money.  I will pitch in $50 to $100.

Who else would be willing to pitch in?

Stumbled across this if you guys are still looking. Auction Link

Several Miller TIGs at auction. Don't know what a good price is and it would be a road trip for someone to go pick up.
